Eucalyptus globulus en Uruguay es la especie forestal de mayor área: más de 200.000 hectáreas. Excelente madera para producción de celulosa. Susceptible a enfermedades y plagas. Estas limitan la productividad y afectan la calidad de la madera. El Mejoramiento Genético puede utilizarse para reducir la incidencia y severidad de enfermedades. La utilización de genotipos adaptados o ?tolerantes? implica evaluación y selección local. |
